One of the key positions in the Scottish arts scene has been advertised by the Scottish Government, which is looking for a "highly effective collaborator, influencer and communicator" to be chair of Creative Scotland.

The new chair will be paid £250 per day with an "anticipated time commitment" of four days per month, which comes to around £12,000 a year. The closing date for applications is October 10.

Creative Scotland is in the process of putting its new funding schemes in place, and the regular funding for arts companies will be announced in October.

The advert says that the chair will "help steer the strategic direction of the organisation, overseeing its effective governance, financial accountability and its delivery of value as a public body, in line with Scottish Government and Ministerial priorities.

"They will hold a breadth of perspective and be a highly effective collaborator, influencer and communicator who can positively represent Creative Scotland in public and in the media.

"Importantly, he or she will have an understanding of and passion for arts, screen and creative industries and the value they deliver to all our lives."

Names already in the frame for the post of chair would include Professor Seona Reid, former head of the Glasgow School of Art.

The chair of Creative Scotland is appointed by Scottish Ministers.

The advert adds: "This is a high profile position in Scottish public life and one where there is an opportunity to make a significant and positive difference. As such, we encourage applications from individuals who feel they have both the experience and the dynamism to successfully fulfill the demands of the role."
