THE results of the big tax case over HM Revenue & Customs' claim that Rangers used an offshore tax avoidance scheme is expected next month.

HM Courts and Tribunals Service says a ruling is expected in October on the HMRC assertion that previous owners of the club operated an Employee Benefit Trust scheme which it says breached tax rules.

The Ibrox club, then under the ownership of Sir David Murray, contested this, which resulted in the case being heard at a tribunal in Edinburgh which concluded in January.

The club entered administration in February over a separate tax issue and applied for insolvency in July.
