WORKERS erect scaffolding outside the Mackintosh building at the Glasgow School of Art.

The restoration work has begun three months after the devastating blaze that caused extensive damage to the wood-panelled library containing many manuscripts belonging to Charles Rennie Mackintosh. The scaffolding will eventually cover the entire West Wing, which bore the brunt of the fire thought to have been caused by a projector overheating.
