Robbery charge man, 44, remanded

A man has appeared in court charged with robbery after an alleged bank robbery in the capital.

Police said thousands of pounds were stolen in an incident at the Royal Bank of Scotland on Edinburgh's St John's Road on Monday.

James Patterson, 44, from Edinburgh, was charged with robbery when he appeared at the city's Sheriff Court today.

He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.
