The Queen's childhood toys are to form the centrepiece of a new exhibition that looks back at the objects associated with royal babies and children.

Anna Reynolds, from the Royal Collection Trust and curator of the exhibition Royal Childhood, said: "From well loved dolls to rocking horses, rattles and outfits, visitors will see over 100 items, many going on display for the first time."

Dolls, a wicker pram, a tiny pink tea set in the shape of a rabbit and a set of Knockemdown Ninepins are some of the items once played with by Princess Elizabeth, later the Queen, which will go on display as part of the summer opening of Buckingham Palace's state rooms. Alongside the monarch's toys will be a range of items, including a silver-gilt lily font used in the baptism of Prince George and the silk-satin and lace christening robe he wore.
