A RUGBY player threatened to stab a man in a kebab shop on a Halloween night out, a court has heard.

Joiner Euan Fraser, 20, claimed he spoke to Glasgow Warriors Rory Hughes and Ryan Grant after a friend of his had been attacked.

He said he believed Mr Grant had assaulted Glasgow Hawk Ally Maclay.

Mr Fraser claimed he told the pair: "You're both a disgrace".

He said Mr Hughes replied: "Shut the f*** up or I will stab you" and held up a plastic fork.

Mr Fraser was giving evidence at the trial of Mr Grant, 29, Ryan Wilson, 25 and Mr Hughes, 21.

They are accused of, whilst acting together, assaulting Mr Maclay at Barbeque Kings takeaway on Great Western Road on October 27, 2013.

It is alleged Mr Grant, from Hyndland, Glasgow, with Wilson and Hughes, punched him on the face, knocked him to the ground and repeatedly punched and kicked him on the face and body to his severe injury.

Mr Wilson, from Bearsden, Glasgow is accused of assaulting Gavin Quinn at the food joint. He faces another charge of assaulting Mr Quinn, along with Mr Hughes, from King's Park, Glasgow by repeatedly punching him on the head.

Hawks fan Mr Fraser said he was in the restaurant around 2am after having been on the team's Halloween night out in the nearby nightclub Viper, with his girlfriend.

The witness - who was dressed as Victor, from the television show Still Game - claimed he was in the queue for food when he saw his friend Mr Maclay on the ground.

He told the jury he saw a number of people beside Mr Maclay, including Grant.

Mr Fraser said: "He was standing over Ally, I would say he was assaulting him."

Mr Fraser said he told them Grant and Hughes they were a "disgrace".

Procurator fiscal depute Alastair Youngson asked: "What was the response?"

The witness replied: "Rory Hughes said to me 'Shut the f*** up or I will stab you' and held up a plastic fork."

The court heard that Mr Fraser was given his food and asked to leave the takeaway.

Mr Grant, from Hyndland, Mr Wilson, from Bearsden and Mr Hughes from King's Park, all Glasgow deny the charges and the trial before sheriff Martin Jones QC continues.
