The Salvation Army has appointed a sports ministry to coincide with the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The charity – which ran similar programmes during last year's Olympics and Paralympics – has appointed a co-ordinator who will be based at the Laurieston Centre in Glasgow. It hopes to create a hub to help some of the many thousands of visitors, athletes and workers at the Games.

The organisation aims to encourage, support and resource Salvation Army church leaders around Scotland to find connections and build relationships.
