THOUSANDS of Santas have taken to the streets to run through the the centre of Glasgow in the annual Santa dash.

THOUSANDS of Santas have taken to the streets to run through the the centre of Glasgow in the annual Santa dash.

George Square was a sea of red and white as runners in Santa costumes set off at 9.30am yesterday and dashed through the city centre.

A total of 5,800 people participated, raising money for nominated charities, including the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow.

The event was described as a ??show stopper??.

Councillor Alistair Watson, Executive Member for Sustainability and Transport, said: ??This year??s Santa dash was an absolute show stopper.

??The people of Glasgow really know how to show their support for good ??clauses?? and this year??s event was no exception.

??They really did themselves and their city proud.

??A superb day, a superb atmosphere and a jolly good event which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.??
