Schools to merge in £1.25bn buildings plan

THE Scottish Government has announced plans to merge some schools in Scotland as part of a scheme to build 67 new schools throughout the country.

The Schools for the Future programme will result in £1.25 billion being spent on the construction of the new institutions by March 2018.

However, construction bosses have urged the Scottish Government to do more to kickstart the industry, despite plans for an extra 12 schools to be built in the next phase of the programme. Page 7
