Scotland bids to be Middle Earth for The Hobbit

Scotland is bidding to be the setting for the long-awaited film version of JRR Tolkien’s The Hobbit, the producer has revealed.

Following industrial problems with actors’ unions, Peter Jackson, the director of the film – a two-part prequel to the blockbusting Lord of the Rings trilogy – has hinted the production may leave its original home of New Zealand.
