Scotland's rich tapestry of tongues

ORKNEY and the Shetland Islands have Orcadian and Shetlandic, with phrases reflecting their Norse Heritage.

Northern Scots can be heard in Aberdeenshire as well as other areas such as Caithness, Easter Ross, Moray, Nairn and the Black Isle.

The term Doric is commonly associated with the Northern Scots dialects of the north-east around Aberdeenshire and Moray.
