Geoff Shaw, the front-runner for First Secretary during ill-fated 1970s devolution talks, is one of a number of Scottish churchmen added to the influential who's-who of British historical figures.
Born in 1927, Mr Shaw was the son of an Edinburgh surgeon, and he entered the Church of Scotland ministry after national service in the Royal Navy.
