Scots BBC chief to lead Savile review

THE head of BBC Scotland, Ken MacQuarrie, is to lead inquiries into why Newsnight dropped an investigation into allegations of sexual abuse by Jimmy Savile.

He has been brought in by the BBC's director general, George Entwhistle, to speak to the programme's journalists, who are angry at the decision to drop the report.

It was to be aired before the ITV documentary which exposed the claims.
