THE acclaimed documentary made with footage filmed by more than 100 members of the public has been chosen to be screened to celebrate 15 years of Scotland's mobile cinema.

The Screen Machine has spent the past 15 years touring the Highlands and Western Islands, bringing the latest films to the remote areas. As part of a celebration programme, We Are Northern Lights will be shown next month.

Audiences in Lochcarron, Bettyhill, Lochinver, Lairg and the Isle of Eigg are lined up to see the film, which has already had success when shown at the Glasgow Film Festival, in New York and in cinemas across Scotland.

Dubbed Scotland's home movie, it began as part of the Year of Creative Scotland 2012. People were asked to capture their perspectives on anything from midges to multi-storey car parks.

Screen Machine 15 project co-ordinator Jonathan Melville said: "We're delighted that our first title is something as unashamedly Scottish as We Are Northern Lights."
