Scots teachers heading south in record numbers

Record numbers of Scottish teachers are leaving the country to work in England, highlighting the current crisis in school recruitment.

New figures show 347 Scottish teachers were registered to teach in England in 2010 -- the highest figure on record and up 13% on the previous year.

Since 2004, more than 1600 teachers from Scotland have registered with the General Teaching Council (GTC) in England.
