Scottish fire union official loses vote

AN official with the Fire Brigades Union Scotland who became embroiled in a row with the national leadership has left his post after losing out in an election.

John Duffy was defeated in a ballot yesterday by Stephen Thomson, who will take over as regional secretary. Mr Duffy had previously drawn the ire of general secretary Matt Wrack after Scottish firefighters decided not to take part in a strike against cuts.
