Today, Scottish football clubs observed a minute's silence as a mark of respect for the victims of the George Square bin lorry crash.

Rangers and Hibernian held a minute's silence before they began their match today at Easter Road.

Celtic and Ross County also observed a minute's silence at their match at Celtic Park this afternoon.

Motherwell held a minute's silence at Fir Park to commemorate both the passing of Phil O'Donnell, who passed away seven years ago on Monday, as well as to commemorate the victims of the crash before their game with Partick Thistle.

Other teams are also expected to follow suit during matches held today.

Primary school teacher Stephenie Tait, 29, and tax worker Jacqueline Morton, 51, both from Glasgow, and Gillian Ewing, 52, from Edinburgh, were killed when the council truck mounted the pavement before crashing into the side of the Millennium Hotel in George Square.

Jack Sweeney, 68, Lorraine Sweeney, 69, and their granddaughter Erin McQuade, 18, all from Dumbarton, also died in the accident which happened on Monday.

The victims were yesterday remembered at Christmas services across the city, with candles lit and prayers said for all those affected by the tragedy.
