The team, Speed Scotland, led by engineer Derek Palmer, has worked tirelessly since returning from a failed bid for the record on the famous Bonneville Salt Flats 12 months ago.
Today Palmer will oversee the first shakedown of the team’s 21in-wide, methanol-powered Streamliner car – christened Flower of Scotland – as it makes a bid to break the 12-year-old 313mph record tomorrow.
