Scottish soprano hits the high notes to win radio opera prize

Soprano Shuna Scott Sendall from Glasgow last night scooped the Radio 2 Kiri Prize – the broadcaster’s nationwide search with Dame Kiri Te Kanawa to find an opera star.

Following regional auditions, 40 singers were invited to attend masterclasses in London with Dame Kiri, mezzo-soprano Anne Howells and conductor Robin Stapleton.

Ms Scott was one of five to reach the final.
