Rutger Hauer has been unveiled as the latest star to join of a new Scots indie romcom road movie.

The screen legend, who has appeared in Blade Runner, Batman Begins and Sin City, will appear in Journey Bound, which tells the tale of a young lawyer chasing the love of his life through the Highlands.

Hauer will appear in the indie flick alongside Still Game star Ford Kiernan, former Doctor Who star Sylvester McCoy and Gregory's Girl actress Clare Grogan.

The movie is Bafta nominated filmmaker Ryan Hendrick's debut feature film.

Hendrick, from Glasgow, said: "We are all incredibly excited to welcome Rutger onboard. I have

been an avid fan of his work for many years and relish the

opportunity to work with him on my debut feature."

Filming for the movie had to be postponed at the end of 2014 due to a setback, however, Hendrick has confirmed that the production is now back on track.

He added: "We did suffer a set back in the tail end of 2014 and filming had to be postponed, but this is the kind of day to day risks that exist with film production, especially in the current climate... lessons were learned!

"The Scottish Film Industry is in crisis, a string of public funded commercial flops and a current parliamentary investigation, I think spells out the sheer magnitude of the failure of our industry and the need to resolve this.

"I believe movies like Journey Bound with fun story lines and characters that audiences want to go and see are essential to assist in implementing infrastructure and stability in our industry."
