THOUSANDS of bulbs will soon light up one of Edinburgh's most famous squares.

However, visitors will be disappointed if they think spring has come early - instead they will be treated to a new free installation by artist Bruce Munro. Opening on Monday, Field of Light will see 9500 glass bulbs transform St Andrew Square, and yesterday

Rebecca Gordon was one of the first to admire the show. Councillor Steve Cardownie, the city's festivals and events champion, said: "This spectacular display will add a much-needed touch of warmth and light to the cold winter months, giving locals and visitors a reason to explore our city centre into 2014."
