Service for 12 sailors lost at sea

TWELVE sailors lost at sea when their oil tanker was torpedoed by a U-boat during the Second World War have been remembered in a memorial service on the east coast of Caithness.

A memorial plaque was unveiled by Caithness Lord Lieutenant Anne Dunnett at Latherton cemetery where the bodies of three recovered seaman were laid to rest. The ceremony was attended by relatives and members of the Merchant Navy Association.
