A SEVEN-year-old boy has become the second victim of a car crash on the A9 in Perthshire.

The child was seriously injured in the collision north of Bankfoot on the Perth-to-Inverness road.

A 31-year-old man, who was in the front passenger seat, also died in the crash at 7.30pm on Friday.

The boy and the 29 year-old female driver, were taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for treatment.

Tayside Police said that the boy has now died and the woman remains in a serious but stable condition.

They were travelling north in a silver Renault Kangoo, while the occupants of a second car, a dark blue Peugeot, were also taken to hospital for treatment.

Police said the female driver of the Peugeot has since been sent home.

Meanwhile, a young man has died in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary after the car he was driving collided with a tree.

The 21-year-old was travelling north on the B8046 between Ecclesmachan and Threemiletown, near Linlithgow, West Lothian, when his red Peugeot 206 hit the kerb before leaving the road and crashing into a tree at around 9pm on Saturday.
