They could be at the back of a drawer, in an album or hidden away in a box of old family pictures, but the search is on for a number of missing photographs.

Shinty's governing body has appealed for help to find 19 missing images which will allow the complete history of the Camanachd Cup to be charted. The sport's most famous prize will be up for grabs for the 106th time a week today and a special photo display illustrating its story is to be shown for the first time.

For some years, shinty historian Hugh Dan MacLennan has been collating images of victorious cup-winning teams, stretching back to the first final in 1896. Donations of images have come from far and wide, and now only 19 are still to be located.

The pictures, including some from the 19th century, will be on display at the Nevis Centre in Fort William next Friday night, the eve of the final between Kyles Athletic and Newtonmore at An Aird Stadium.

Officials are asking people with shinty connections to check for the missing images, the oldest being Beauly's winning team of 1898.
