CLYDE shipyard firm BAE Systems has been forced to pay out compensation to the Trinidad and Tobago Government.

The firm has reached an undisclosed settlement with the Caribbean republic over a delayed order for three ships and an equipment failure on two of them during sea trials, which led to the £150m order being cancelled.

BAE declined to comment on the compensation other than to confirm a deal had been agreed.
