The three-year-old, who has not yet been named by police, died on Saturday when a wave washed him from a sea wall into the heavy swell off the Kirkcaldy Esplanade in Fife.
The youngster, who was with his parents at the time, was pulled from the water and taken by ambulance to the town’s Victoria Hospital, but he died a short time later, at around 5pm.
