Shop hit by global helium shortage

A SCOTTISH party shop is being forced to close because of a global helium shortage.

Owners of family-run The Party Shack, in Musselburgh, Edinburgh, claim a lack of helium has stopped the shop from taking balloon orders for more than two months.

Helium, a natural gas, is a finite resource which has led to prices rocketing over the past few months. The supply of the gas has been rationed while major plants undergo maintenance.
