RECORD crowds flocked to this year's Galloway Country Fair, one of Scotland's premier country events.

Organisers estimate around 20,000 people were attracted to the spectacular show in the grounds of Drumlanrig Castle & Country Estate, Dumfriesshire.

Jo Jones, event manager, said: "The word 'staycationing' has been the recession buzz word but I'm not convinced that's the only reason Scots are choosing to holiday on home turf.

"As the crowd this weekend shows, there is a real passion for all things Scottish."
