ONLY a third of the UK's top tourist attractions are fully wheelchair accessible, a charity has found.
Vitalise, which provides breaks for disabled people, asked 100 tourist destinations to provide information about wheelchair accessibility. In all, 52 replied, of which 33 admitted they were not fully accessible. There were no disabled car spaces at 13 and the same number did not advertise access information on websites.
Vitalise has called for attractions to do more in response to the results. Chief executive Chris Simmonds said: "Too many of Britain's tourist attractions are not taking accessibility seriously."
