'Since the operation I've been able to live a normal life'

ALASDAIR Lobban had a heart transplant in October 2003 after being diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat 11 years earlier.

The married 55-year-old from Bishopbriggs was fitted with a pacemaker in 2001.

He was then given a biventricular defibrillator on Christmas Eve in 2002, after blacking out and crashing his car. He was unable to work or travel abroad while he continued suffering from heart problems
