Singer's objections to hydro plan fail

FEARS noise from a hydro scheme could prevent a top folk singer from recording have been dismissed by councillors.

Singer/songwriter Dougie MacLean had expressed concern the proposal would impact on his home and studio in Butterstone, near Dunkeld, Perthshire.

The Caledonia composer – currently enjoying exposure on a TV beer advert – has said he might leave the tiny hamlet where he went to school, saying the powerhouse would emit a hum that would ruin recordings.
