Six weeks of festive celebrations

A GIANT party is planned for Edinburgh this year, with six weeks of festive celebrations for tens of thousands of revellers from all over the world.

The fun starts on St Andrew's Day with the Light Night fireworks ceremony on the Mound – leading up to the lighting of the Norwegian Christmas Tree – and runs until January 6.

The Traditional German and Scottish Highland Village markets, the ice rink and the Edinburgh Wheel are all back, and new this time around is a 3D outdoor cinema in Princes Street Gardens East for young and old.
