Slipping into the void - slowly

It could be something out of Doctor Who, with Lizzie Cowan of Edinburgh's Dovecot Studios being sucked into a Technicolor time-warp.

In fact this remarkable work of art on show at the studios is an installation by artist Shane Waltener called Stairwell Weave-In, created as part of the Slow Movement at the studios on Infirmary Street.

The Slow Movement bills itself as a response to speedy lifestyles and unsustainable consumer culture, and is associated with craft skills acquired over time. Picture: Gordon Terris
