A RARE letter from Scotland's "father of modern economics" Adam Smith to British statesman William Eden after Britain lost her American colonies has surfaced at an auction house in London.
The letter, signed and in Smith's own hand, is expected to fetch up to £40,000 at the Bonhams sale on June 18.
