Snake is charmed by officers

Police officers proved to be charmers as they snared an escaped snake that was terrifying children.

Screaming youngsters alerted the officers to something untoward in the Wester Hailes area of Edinburgh yesterday.

The officers found the cornsnake, managed to lure it into a kit bag and took it to the SSPCA rehoming centre in Balerno.
