PHOTOGRAPHERS came out in force to hunt down six images in a "photomarathon".

Budding photographers were given six themes – the competitors' unique registration number, Energy, Reflect, Joy, Words and Life – and left to their own devices to get the pictures.

Any type of photography was allowed, with competitors using everything from top-of-the range cameras to smart phones and iPads. More than 120 competitors took part in the East Renfrewshire event, with the deadline for all pictures to be in by Saturday at midnight.

Herald photographers Colin Mearns, Martin Shields and Sunday Herald picture editor Elaine Livingstone will now judge the winning entries. All participants are invited to attend the award ceremony, taking place on Friday, November 2, at Eastwood Park Theatre, where the three best entries judged best will be announced and presented with their own very special awards and prizes.

First prize is a day shadowing Martin Shields, while all winners will be invited to a bespoke photography masterclass with Elaine Livingstone.
