Herald reporter Helen McArdle got to see for herself what it is like to be a high flyer - by getting a look around Donald Trump's private jet.

Donald Trump today gave the press a taste of what his high-rolling customers can expect from a luxury break at Trump Turnberry, as he opened up one of the private jets for tour.

Customers will be able to fly to Prestwick from all over the world on the mogul's fleet of private jets, which includes the Boeing 757 he showed off at the airport's giant hangar today.

The jumbo can accommodate up to 43 passengers and includes a double bed, marble bathroom, private lounge, leather armchairs and corner couches to provide clients with the kind of relaxation only billionaires can enjoy.

Decorated with gold finishes and South African walnut, the jet also offers every convenience - from microwaves  to a toilet disguised as a luxury armchair.

The plane was on display at Prestwick as the businessman announced plans for a tie-up with the ailing airport which will bring the world's wealthiest golf fans to Ayrshire, where he is working on a £250 million overhaul of his Trump Turnberry resort.

Mr Trump said he expected "hundreds" of private jets to be landing at Scottish Government-owned Prestwick within a couple of years.

Turnberry's revamped golf courses are scheduled for completion by mid-2016.
