SNOW tubing runs are opening at a revamped ski centre after a legal battle delayed earlier work.

The runs at Midlothian Snowsports Centre in Hillend will open from tomorrow, with adults and children over the age of eight allowed to take part in the newest attraction, sliding down the slopes in giant rubber doughnuts.

The work had earlier been set back due to a dispute over drainage problems but is the final part of £533,000 of improvements at the centre, which is run by Midlothian Council.

The revamp also included a new nursery slope and new travellator systems.

Councillor Derek Rosie, cabinet member for sport and leisure, said: "Just watching people snow tubing is enough to bring a smile to my face."
