AN SNP candidate has hit out after vandals superglued the locks on her campaign office.

Natalie McGarry, candidate for Glasgow East, said the vandalism was an "attempt to silence us".

Volunteers were unable to get into the office in West Muir Street at Parkhead Cross on Tuesday morning after the locks on the shutters appeared to be superglued shut.

Ms McGarry said the team were now searching for new locks.

A volunteer is doing the locksmith work for the team.

Ms McGarry said: "We see it as an attempt to silence us, and an attempt to silence democracy.

"Imagine the expense and the nuisance this has caused.

"But we won't be silenced."

The vandalism was reported to the police.

In a Facebook post, Ms McGarry added: "We have called police. We won't be intimidated. Our campaigning is going fantastically, if that threatens vested interests, all the better."
