SNP urged to ditch spy agency plans

SNP proposals to emulate the UK's intelligence services in the event of Scotland becoming independent have been called "unaffordable and unrealistic".

The Royal United Services Institute, a defence think tank, said an independent Scotland should follow Denmark's lead and put the police in charge of a limited intelligence-gathering operation, instead of establishing its own spy agency.
