Son's remembrance

ALEX McKinlay admires a picture of his father, a former Gordon Highlander in the First World War.

Peter McKinlay, whose image can be seen at the Burrell Collection in Glasgow, is one of the subjects of a new documentary by artist Margaret Moore - Still Sounds: The Great War - which gives a powerful insight into the life of Glaswegian soldiers at war.

In it, Mr McKinlay talks about his father who fought through the Somme and recalls the impact the experiences had on him by the time he returned.

Picture: Peter Sandground.
