Stage set for inspirational tale

SEVEN Glasgow teenagers who led a campaign against dawn raids on asylum seekers are the inspiration for a new musical from the National Theatre of Scotland which opened last night.

The Glasgow Girls, on at the Citizens' Theatre in Glasgow, tells the story of the Drumchapel High schoolgirls who lobbied the First Minister and took on the Home Office. Director Cora Bissett said: "I hope people leave knowing a little bit more about the experience of asylum seekers and maybe just place themselves in their shoes, just for a moment."
