Standard Life payouts reach total of £2bn

PAYOUTS to Standard Life shareholders have reached £2 billion since 2006 after bosses announced a £302 million special dividend.

The dividend came after the Edinburgh firm posted a £356m rise in profits for 2012 and analysts predict there could be further returns of cash. Chief executive David Nish said once the latest dividends – the 12.8p special payment and the 14.7p regular one – were approved, the Edinburgh firm will have returned more than £2bn since floating on the London Stock Exchange.
