Star signs up for arms trade treaty

Annie Lennox has joined dozens of international artists to demand that world leaders regulate the international arms trade.

The Scottish singer has added her name to a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon demanding an Arms Trade Treaty. Other signatories include film stars Keira Knightley, Scarlett Johansson and Kevin Spacey.

Later today, representatives from more than 190 governments will meet in New York for the first day of month-long negotiations at the UN to agree a treaty which will control the supply of weapons, ammunition and armaments.
