Star turn

THE future stars of Scotland's film, television and gaming industry were recognised at the Bafta Scotland New Talent Awards last night in Glasgow.

Among those to emerge victorious at the event in The Arches was Julie Speers, pictured, who won best acting performance for the gritty short film Wyld. The part, written specially for Speers, was her first taste of acting.

Jude MacLaverty, director of Bafta Scotland, said: "The British Academy Scotland New Talent Awards reflect the sheer breadth of up and coming talent."
