Stars to perform at Rafferty festival

He's known for hits such as Baker Street, Right Down The Line and Stuck in the Middle with You - the latter making it into Quentin Tarantino's cult movie Reservoir Dogs.

Now the late Gerry Rafferty's home town of Paisley, Renfrewshire, is to reverberate to those and other songs when his life will be commemorated at a festival from April 11 to 19.

Some of the country's best-known artists will be at Bring It All Home to play music by Rafferty, who died in 2011.

One of the highlights will be a concert, led by his daughter Martha Rafferty and friend Rab Noakes in Paisley Town Hall on April 16, Rafferty's 67th birthday.

Ms Rafferty said: "I'm looking forward to marking what would have been his 67th birthday with a great bunch of artists and musicians. Breathing new life into his songs is always a pleasure.

"It's also fantastic to be able to stage this festival in Paisley - his home town meant a lot to him and inspired much of his work, I'm sure he would be delighted to be able to help shine the spotlight on the town."

The Royal Scottish National Orchestra will feature in the concert, alongside Scots musicians Eddi Reader, Barbara Dickson, Emma Pollock, Roddy Hart and Siobhan Wilson.

Midge Ure, Hamish Stuart and James Grant will wrap up the event at a closing party. Scots singer-songwriter Karine Polwart and group Blue Rose Code will also perform.
