HUNDREDS of people are being encouraged to take up stitching to help complete the latest panel on the world's longest tapestry.

The Great Tapestry of Scotland, spearheaded by author Alexander McCall Smith, has been one of the world's biggest community art projects, involving 1,000 volunteers.

The 160-panel tapestry has now returned to the Scottish Parliament, and stitchers are sought to complete a newly designed People's Panel.

The tapestry will be on show at Holyrood until September 13.
