Strathclyde Police rack up £500,000 in hotel bills

A body representing taxpayers has raised concerns that Scotland’s largest police force, which is facing a financial crisis, has spent nearly £500,000 on hotel accommodation over two years.

As Strathclyde Police prepares for crippling budget cuts, new data shows that the constabulary’s hotel bill is averaging nearly £20,000 every month, totalling £221,430.70 in 2008/09 and £255,263.55 in 2007/08.
