Student dies while climbing in the Cairngorms

A climber has died after falling around 600ft in the Cairngorms.

He and another climber were ascending Sgoran Dubh in Glen Einich when he fell at around 12.45 today and suffered fatal injuries.

His colleague made a "difficult descent" to raise the alarm, Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team (CMRT) said.

CMRT and RAF Sea King Rescue 137 were involved in the rescue operation.

The two climbers are believed to be students.
