THREE students from Scotland will take on the role of ambassador as they take part in a conference to learn about the Holocaust.

The students will today travel to London to take part in the Holocaust Educational Conference, the first of its kind, to help deepen their understanding of the Nazi genocide of Europe's Jews.

Nearly 500 students from across the UK will attend the conference to hear lectures from high-profile speakers such as Shami Chakrabati, the director of civil liberties charity Liberty.

Mhiara-May MacKenzie, 20, from Alford in Aberdeenshire, is one of the Scots attending the conference organised by the Holocaust Educational Trust and developing ways to share what she learns with her peers and community.

Ms MacKenzie said: "This conference is an amazing opportunity to gain a much deeper understanding of the topic from some of the field's most renowned historians."
